The 27 Club

Weirder and weirder it gets folks. This week has been no different. One of my mantras is “country over party” and for the installment we brought on someone who embodies this. David Frum joins us to discuss his new book “Trumpocracy: the Corruption of the American Republic” and his thoughts on how Republicans should act in the Trump age. For the second week in a row, we are joined by MSNBC contributor and fellow podcaster Touré, as he reflects on the recent incident at a Starbucks in Philadelphia and how he would respond if he was CEO of the coffee corporation. We wrap this week’s episode with a new interactive segment we call, “Ask Amandi”, where our listeners get a chance to ask me the questions that have been on the top of their minds. It’s sure to get strange, don’t say I didn’t warn ya. Enjoy!

The Not Deficit Hawk

Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears! Strange Days is back and this week we cover it all. We start our episode by talking with a fellow podcaster and Miamian Roben Farzad, discussing his fascinating new book, “Hotel Scarface: Where Cocaine Cowboys Partied and Plotted to Control Miami”, as well as what it’s like to be an Iranian-American. After that…the boys are back in town! POLITICO’s own Marc Caputo and Michael Grunwald are back, and they are joined by a new friend of the podcast, Lance Dixon of The New Tropic, as we discuss the Trump administration, Obama’s legacy, and the exodus of Republicans from Congress (Adios Paul Ryan!). And of course, we got a round of red-hot Rapid Fire. Lastly, we continue our Flip that Seat series with Dr. Hiral Tipirneni, a medical professional running for Arizona’s 8th District. Enjoy!

The Searcher

You know what time it is. It’s time to open your ears and your mind, because Strange Days is back and this week’s episode is sure to leave you astounded. Do you remember reading George Orwell’s “1984” in school? Did you ever think, this can never happen in America? It’s time to rethink that because we ARE in Oceania right now. We have to address the news that Sinclair Broadcast Group forced their nearly 200 stations across the country to air their dog whistle propaganda and we found the rare opportunity to speak with an employee of Sinclair, keeping their identity hidden of course. As always, we continue to follow the Trump administration closely by speaking with David Corn, chief of the Washington bureau for Mother Jones, and author of the new book, “Russian Roulette: The Inside Story of Putin’s War on America and the Election of Donald Trump”. WAIT! You thought that was it? Oh no. To wrap up our show, we turn back the clocks to the days of jailhouse rock and blue suede shoes. We’re speaking of course about The King, Elvis Presley. We were humbled to speak with a member of the original Memphis Gang, Jerry Schilling, in anticipation of the new HBO documentary, “Elvis Presley: The Searcher”, that Schilling executive produced, airing April 14th. Enjoy!
